Protein G

Product               Protein G

Description

Protein G is a bacterial cell wall protein originating from group G Streptococci.

Native Protein G has three IgG binding domains and also sites for albumin and cell surface binding. Albumin and cell surface binding domains have been removed from recombinant Protein G to reduce non-specific binding.

Recombinant Protein G from E. coli is produced in validated fermentation and purification processes. In addition, no mammalian components are involved in either the fermentation or downstream processes.

The purification process contains several chromatographic steps (but no affinity chromatographic step using human IgG).

Main areas of application

Recombinant Protein G can be used to separate IgG from crude human or mouse IgG serum samples.

Working Principle

Protein G interacts with mammalian IgGs mainly through Fc regions.
